OAE launched an official WeChat account in February 2022 and is preparing to launch Douyin (Tiktok’s original version in China) account to share news from UT and to engage prospective students and alumni who live overseas. WeChat is the only app in China to have over one billion active users. As of August 2020, the short video app Douyin achieved a total of 600 million daily active users.
