Global Security, Risk, and Resilience (Global Risk) is a central resource for international risk management, emergency response, and compliance efforts across the University of Tennessee, and plays a crucial role in safeguarding the health, safety, and security of Tennessee travelers abroad.
The unit can assist the university community with:
- Pre-travel planning, preparation, and program development. Global Risk can help individuals, departments, and schools identify, monitor, and mitigate risks associated with programming or travel abroad.
- International traveler assistance. Global Risk can help travelers and administrators understand and comply with university policies and procedures, federal regulations, and international guidelines, as well as benefits like the university’s international medical insurance plan and assistance services. Global Risk serves as the university’s liaison with UTK’s 24/7 international assistance provider, International SOS, and leads emergency response efforts for incidents impacting UTK travelers abroad. For more information about travel requirements, International SOS, and UT’s international health insurance, see:
- Coordinating international compliance efforts. This includes areas like research security, where Global Risk can assist in vetting potential collaboration opportunities, and developing new policies, procedures, and guidelines.
If Global Risk can be of assistance in any of these areas, contact Assistant Director Shawn Lenker, slenker@utk.edu.
