Dr. Walters brings a wealth of experience and expertise to her role as COIL Manager. She is an alumna of UTK, where she earned a master’s degree in French Literature, going on to complete her Ph.D. in Romance Languages from the University of Georgia. Her academic journey includes significant international exposure, including an M.A. exchange program in Lille, France, and study abroad programs in France, Italy, Turkey, Austria, Costa Rica, and Belize. She has held teaching positions at various institutions, including Belmont and Lipscomb Universities and more recently served as Director of International Programs at Lincoln Memorial University, where she cultivated partnerships with international institutions and served the international student and scholar community.

Dr. Walters personal mission is to create spaces and opportunities to foster global citizenship and help others recognize the importance of their presence and interconnectedness in the world. She is thrilled to join UT’s Center for Global Engagement, dive deep into the niche of Collaborative Online International Learning, and champion this revolutionary way of internationalizing the campus, curriculum, and community through virtual international education opportunities.
