The OFFICE OF ASIA ENGAGEMENT (OAE) provides strategic planning, support, and coordination for the University of Tennessee, Knoxville’s engagement in Asia by collaborating with campus partners to develop and execute innovative programs that contribute to global learning, research, and service opportunities.

CONNECTING GLOBAL PARTNERS
Facilitates faculty and administrators across campus in international partnership development in Asia; provides insights into policies and trends in international education with an emphasis on Asia; organizes institutional-level delegation visits to Asia; fosters partner relationships by contributing to the design and administration of a wide array of collaborative activities.
DEVELOPING INNOVATIVE PROGRAMS
Works with various campus units and leads the development of innovative programs that bring a variety of global learning opportunities to students and advance the academic units’ strategic goals for global engagement. Examples include dual degree programs, online English language and culture training class modules, and Collaborative Online International Learning.
SUPPORTING RESEARCH COLLABORATIONS
Connects faculty with global partners, develops and provides program support that advances research collaborations, identifies in-country resources that contribute to the grant application, and promotes faculty and research to external audiences such as institutional partners, embassies, consulates, foundations, international organizations, and industry partners.
ENGAGING INTERNATIONAL ALUMNI
Creates opportunities for UT alumni in Asia to engage with the university and each other. Hosts in-person and virtual alumni events in partnership with the Alumni Affairs Office and the Advancement team. Works with the CGE communications office to produce alumni feature stories, print, and digital publications intended for alumni engagement.
PROMOTING A WELCOMING
CAMPUS CLIMATE
Contributes to building a welcoming campus climate; works with various campus organizations, commissions, and groups to provide support for the campus AAPI community.
CONNECTING THE AAPI COMMUNITY
Leverages campus and community resources to provide service opportunities that connect campus and local AAPI communities. Builds partnerships with non-profit organizations state and municipal governments.
