Heart To Heart – Live Stream Concert: Gao Hong and Issam Rafea Duo

Syrian oud master Issam Rafea and Chinese pipa master Gao Hong performed live compositions and improvisations blending Chinese and Arabic techniques in a performance titled “The Blending of Ancient Souls from Syria and China.”

The groundbreaking author and award-winning activist, Helen Zia, held a virtual conversation with the University of Tennessee community and the general public about Asian American culture in today’s society. As an outspoken the daughter of Chinese immigrants, Zia has played a key role been a key figure in the Asian American movement. The event recording requires a passcode.

Celebrating Culture 5K with Knoxville Asian Festival

In partnership with the Asian Culture Center of Tennessee and the Council for Diversity and Interculturalism, the Office of Asia Engagement invited students, faculty, and staff to participate in a virtual 5K/1 mile run/walk to celebrate cultural diversity.

Navigating Racism and Bias: A Panel Discussion Supporting UT and Local Asian Community in Unprecedented Times

The Center for Global Engagement, in partnership with the Division of Diversity and Engagement, held a panel discussion to share some ideas on how to connect our Asian population with resources and strategies for navigating implicit and explicit bias, as well as strategies for how others can be supportive of Asian faculty, staff, and students during this time.
