These photos are from faculty member Dr. Sam Swan’s workshop in Rwanda. Swan is the Director of Global Programs and Outreach at the College of Communication and Information and a professor of Journalism and Electronic Media. Swan’s background encompasses over 50 years in broadcast journalism, education, and international media training. After 37 years of dedicated service to the University of Tennessee, Swan has shared his plans to retire this upcoming December. The piece you are looking at is from Swan’s two-week training course held for media company Voice of America and media managers from Uganda and Rwanda. The purpose of the workshop was to help stations become profitable and sustainable. Swan has conducted over 150 workshops in more than 50 countries.
