CGE Announces 2022-23 Global Catalyst Programming and Student International Travel Grant Awardees

The Center for Global Engagement has announced the awardees of the 2022-23 Global Catalyst Programming and Student International Travel Grants.

Global Catalyst Grants provide partial support in building Tennessee’s connections to international colleagues, institutional partners and opportunities abroad. The funds interlink Tennessee with the world beyond U.S. borders and support international activities on the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, campus.

The Global Catalyst Programming Grants support activities and programs on the UT campus that focus on international content and are free and open to the general campus community. Additionally, engagement and collaboration with the wider Knoxville community is encouraged. A total of $15,105 in programming grants were awarded this cycle.

The Global Catalyst Student International Travel Grants support undergraduate and graduate students’ travel abroad for the purpose of attending an internationally-based conference or workshop. These grants can also be used to support students’ international research opportunities.

The 2022-23 Global Catalyst Programming Grant awardees are Jonathan Adams, faculty in the School of Music; Renée D’Elia-Zunino, faculty in the College of Arts and Sciences; Miroslav Hristov, faculty in the School of Music; Danny Isham, undergraduate student in the Chinese Culture Club student organization; Gῖchingiri Ndῖgῖrῖgῖ, faculty in the Department of English; and Teodora Trifonova, PhD student in the School of Journalism and Electronic Media.

The 2022-23 Global Catalyst Student International Travel Grant awardees are Annelyse Caffrey, graduate student in the College of Nursing; Sadie Counts, graduate student in the Department of Anthropology; Samantha Kuschke, graduate student in the College of Veterinary Medicine; Amoirie Perteet, graduate student in the Department of Theatre; Sathyanarayanan Rengaswami, graduate student in the Department of Mathematics; Ruchi Singh, graduate student in the School of Art; Vladyslava Snyder, graduate student in the Haslam College of Business; Morgan Taylor, graduate student in the College of Nursing; and Wilson Xiong, graduate student in the Department of Forestry, Wildlife and Fisheries.

Deadlines for programming grant proposals are typically in the fall semester each year.

Deadlines for student international travel grant proposals land both in the fall and spring semesters with the next proposal deadline on April 3, 2023.
